BUSINESS OF THE WEEK: Derek Beardsell of D & M Cleaning gave a carpet cleaning demonstration and explained the value and importance of having your carpets professionally cleaned. Derek was certified through the Carpet Cleaning Institution and can remove various odours and stains from your carpet, upholstery and area rugs. Using special blacklight technology, Derek is an expert at finding and removing those smelly stains you can’t see! D & M Cleaning also provides commercial janitorial cleaning and supplies. BUSINESS OF THE WEEK: Tim Houle of VNet Consulting gave a slideshow presentation of his services. VNet Consulting can assist you with your marketing plan for website design, internet marketing and display advertising needs. VNet specializes in internet marketing services such as: social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), text message marketing, article marketing, pay per click and email marketing. VNet designed and maintains the Vernon Chamber of Commerce website and Tim explained some of the new advertising options available on the Chamber’s website (must be a Chamber member to take advantage). BUSINESS OF THE WEEK: Cheryl Eedens of Vernon Vintners has owned the business for 5 years and has a passion for winemaking. Cheryl explained how their on-site brewing services work and the many products they offer - including table wines, fruit wine, ciders, sparkling wines, beer, ports and icewines, as well as non-alcoholic sparkling wines and ciders. Gumtree Catering to Compete in Iron Chef Fundraiser
On Sunday, November 6, 2011, a special fundraising event will be held for North Okanagan Neurological Assocation (NONA).
The Iron Chef event will feature teams from Gumtree Catering and the Sprouted Fig. The teams will face off at Turtle Mountain Vineyard with 5 bonus ingredients and 1 secret ingredient. Tickets are $25 in advance ($30 at the door) and can be purchased at Bean Scene, the Sprouted Fig and Gumtree Catering.

The event opens to ticketholders at 4 p.m. for a private appetizer sampling. The secret ingredient will be revealed half an hour prior to cooking time, and both teams will have half an hour to prepare their dishes. Wine will be available for purchase.
Moms Making it Happen is the organization behind the event, allowing the popular event to return for its second year. Last year’s proceeds were donated to the North Okanagn Child Care Society, and the support from the community was tremendous. For more information, go to www.momsmakingithappen.ca.

BORG Meeting - May 27, 2010, Vernon, BC
Today BORG had a great meeting, and 43 referrals were given between members in the last 2 week period. Great job, BORG members. We are truly building our businesses one referral at a time....
Alicia Kay gave a fantastic presentation on the Historic O'Keefe Ranch.
She pointed out some upcoming events at the Ranch including the following:

The Business Okanagan Referral Group (BORG) is extremely excited to announce the launch of its new website!
